Tea Break Studio is built on one idea: you see your new home page before you pay anything. We are a team based in Beachlands, Auckland, working with businesses all over New Zealand. We design the site, build it, launch it, then look after it if you want us to. When you call or email, you get Nick, who runs the studio.

Nick Lakin has spent more than 15 years in tech. He founded Tea Break Studio and runs it from Beachlands, Auckland. He designs and builds websites, online stores and apps, and works across design, code, 3D and AI, so a job is never passed from one agency to the next. A Starter site is typically live in 1 to 2 weeks once we have your content. After that, if you want us to, a care plan keeps it up, safe and backed up.
Named for the time it gives back.
A good website gets on with it in the background. It answers the usual questions, sends the enquiries straight to you, and does not need you to fuss over it. That is the time we want to give back, to the business or to an actual tea break.

If it matters, it is written down.
Your quote, what is in scope, how many rounds of changes you get, and any advice we give you about your site. All of it arrives by email, so you can read it again later or show it to someone else. Nothing important lives in a call or a chat you have to remember.
Plain English, or we have not finished thinking.
You should never need to look something up to understand an email from us. Quotes describe what you get, not the technology behind it. If a technical choice affects you, we explain why it matters to your customers, in a sentence.
The price is fixed before anything starts.
You get one number for the agreed scope, with the number of revision rounds written into it. If you ask for something outside that scope, we tell you what it would cost before doing it. No surprise invoices.
Your domain, your hosting, your accounts, your content.
Everything is registered in your name from day one. We get access to do the work, never ownership. If you ever want to move to someone else, you can, and nothing is held hostage.
Launch day is the start, not the finish.
A website needs updates and security patches, backups, uptime monitoring and a set amount of small changes each month to keep doing its job. A care plan covers that, and you get a short note every month saying what happened. Without a plan, changes are charged by the hour, with the time agreed first, and we are still an email away.
Well-supported platforms, and nothing only we understand.
A Shopify store you run yourself. You add products and change prices, and we show you how. A website we build is changed by us, and small changes are part of a care plan, or charged by the hour outside it, with the time agreed first. If you ever stop working with us, your site keeps going.
